We also have CAD and Drafting Competition

for the Wednesday and Thursday of the same week are CAD and Architecture drawing contests which again selected students (there are more of the CAD students) are provided some wonderful gifts .. tables, AutoDesk, Microstation, etc.

How many students do you suspect will want to participate?

If you have some estimate, it will help for the folks who obtain the gifts. Thanks!

What would be the Competition?

Working with industry we have some ideas. Here are a few. Interested in your thoughts.
  1. Provide perhaps what would be expected at an interview which may require the student to perform geocoding (batch geocoding is simple) then performing a selection / query and answering 'who many' and finishing up with a cartographically good layout
  2. Or provide the option of selecting any county in the US and display a demographic map to be evaluated both cartographically and how the data is normalized (ie: Hispanic / Total Pop rather than Total Pop / Hispanic, etc)
  3. or?

Competition Date

The date fortunately is a Friday so we can complete the competition and avoid having to return a different day at awards. For those attending the awards ceremony, its almost impossible not to be rewarded with some gift. This year we have some funds and will have a mixture of prizes for each student depending on how many attend.
